Abstract
- The text presents the participation of the Incubator of Popular and Solidarity Economy Initiatives of the Feira de Santana State University (extension and research program) in the process of construction and realization of the festivities of Black November, event promoted by the Quilombola Community of Lagoa Grande, located in the rural area of the municipality of Feira de Santana, State of Bahia, Brazil. From this experience, we reflect on the challenges of the participant methodologies, the encounter between the University and the popular classes and their different knowledge, about the role of the festive encounter and art in the construction of community identity. Based on aspects of the trajectory of meetings between the community of Lagoa Grande and the University and on considerations about the author's own personal experience, perspectives of questioning and reflection are presented about the role, limits, challenges for the production of scientific knowledge in dialogue with those who experience exclusion based on skin color and unequal access to work and formal education.
