Abstract

This article aims to present a semiolinguistic analysis of the text History of Brazil, written by Paulo Mendes Campos, author from de Brazilian State of Minas Gerais. The analysis started from the theoretical and methodological postulates of Semiolinguistic Discourse Theory (2012), by Patrick Charaudeau, as well as from specific concepts coming from the Systemic-Functional Grammar. During this analysis, we demonstrate how the enunciating subject lends his voice to the Creator, the Judeo- Christian God, in an interdiscursive process between literary, religious and historical text that briefly and critically narrates Brazilian History. In this process, several meanings can be found in the text that, even if produced many decades ago, still remains current. From the perspective of the literary scope, Paulo Mendes Campos' text is timeless and makes the reader critically immerse in the historical events that decipt Brazilian alienation since colonization.
