Abstract

The article addresses the Southern African Development Community (SADC): its emergence, historical and political context and regional integration, based on literature review and documentary research. After World War II, Africa saw nationalist movements for decolonization, development and unity between countries. SADC arose from tensions between colonial rule and South African conflicts. Countries united in a bloc to reduce South Africa's economic dependency and to isolate apartheid. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
