Estudos Culturais, marxismo e classe social: relações e contradições.

The article focuses on the relations between Cultural Studies and Marxism, pointing to both convergences (Curran and Grossberg) and divergences (Hall). We approach the space of the category of social class in the development of empirical researches of audience sheltered by Cultural Studies. The text also reflects on possible contributions of Bourdieu to this discussion, through the concepts of habitus, capitals and taste. In the end, we rely on fundamental authors for Cultural Studies to defend the resumption of a Marxist view on culture and communication, with a centrality to the study of social class.
