Abstract

Project-based learning has gained ground as a resource to address the teaching of content from an interdisciplinary and collaborative perspective. Hence, its validity has been proven in all educational stages and with different didactic objectives. This paper focuses on the potential of this approach to respond to university first-year students' academic literacy needs. Specifically, a proposal is made to use this methodology for the teaching of oral and written academic discourse while students are instructed in content specific to their disciplinary area. This is a proposal designed for the first year of the Primary Education Degree and for the subject of Communication Competence Development. This proposal reveals (i) the importance of tackling the oral and written academic discourse specifically and (ii) the possibility of transferring this proposal to different areas of expertise.
