Abstract

This work presents the synthesis and characterization of Cobalt and Molybdenum nanoparticles, using polyvinylpyrrolidone as a stabilizing agent, and the evaluation of its stability in emulsion with a heavy crude. The nanostructured particles were synthesized by the chemical reduction technique. The morphological, structural and particle size characterization was carried out by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV / Vis), which confirmed the formation of the monometallic nanoparticles. The stability of the emulsion and its contribution to the reduction of the viscosity in the crude oil was evaluated by rheology, obtaining favorable results and demonstrating significant changes in the mentioned physical property.
