Abstract

The present report exhibits the studies carried out for the implementation of a curriculum by competence, developed by the faculty of the Journalism Course of the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR). The qualitative research was carried out through visits, focus groups and involved students, market professionals, managers of teaching institutions, professor and course coordinators. The text is divided in: presentation of the survey and description of the data that supported the construction of the new syllabus, step by step. From the results, one can perceive the importance of a syllabus by competence regarding the qualification of the journalist and in the certification of the competences for the professional development in excellence and social responsibility.
