Abstract

The article focuses on syntactic and strategic aspects of the comprehensions of indirect and direct object constructions by children. It has been fashionable to assert that native language acquisition is essentially accomplished by the end of the fourth year of life. Some recent work, however, suggests that certain quite important linguistic facilities are not attained much before puberty. In a recent review, researchers D.S. Palermo and D.L. Molfese surveyed many of the aspects of language, which are still unmastered by children aged 5 and older. In the present study, one such skill is investigated: the comprehension of sentences having double object predicate constructions.
