Abstract

The authors discuss a study that examined whether human papillomavirus (HPV) or human polyomavirus can be a causative factor for lung cancer. Highlights include the use of the National Lung Cancer Registry in Sweden 2015 in the study, the number of lung cancer samples from never-smokers that were analyzed for the presence of deoxyribonucleic acid from 27 mucosal HPV types, and relationship between HPV infection and risk of lung cancer in non-smoking women.
