Partidos Políticos latino-americanos: padrões organizativos.

This study analyzes and classifies the internal organization of Latin American political parties, comparing the content of 42 party statutes distributed in the 18 democratic countries from this region. The statute analysis focused on their comparison, highlighting the presence or absence of certain contents in each of them. The prevailing view of the region indicates a case of party underdevelopment, in which the associations are described as having fragile internal organizations, in many cases these are nonexistent. This work does not share that view and argues that Latin America has a broad party spectrum in which parties with different organization levels coexist. The main results indicate a strong influence of ideology and original type on the party’s format. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
