Abstract

The authors have compared prenatal depression prevalence in France (Lorraine and outside Lorraine: 221 women) and in Switzerland and Scotland using Cox EPDS. Results show depression percentage are higher in France than in Scotland (Evans et al., 2001) and comparable to those observed in Switzerland (Manzano et al., 1997). Besides, coping strategies evaluated with French adaptation (Mulller and Spitz, 2003) of Carver’s BriefCope, differentiate significantly depressive and non depressive women during pregnancy. It appears very urgent to develop preventive perspective to face that important public health problem. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
