Abstract
- A variation of a dwell transition experiment in which a tungsten penetrator impacts a steel-confined silicon carbide (SiC) ceramic target is simulated using the Lagrangian code EPIC. The ceramic is modeled with both the Johnson-Holmquist-1 model (JH1) and the Rajendran-Grove model (RG). With a focus on damage and failure, the performance of each model is examined and the two models compared when predicting the transition from dwell to penetration. © 2004 American Institute of Physics [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
