Abstract
- A literary criticism of the book "Across the River & Into the Trees" by Ernest Hemingway is presented. It outlines the characters and explores their symbolic significance. It examines a correlative of Colonel's spiritual anguish in the face of his imminent death and also mentions about spiritual pilgrimage and sense of guilt for the loss of his regiment along with the Christian virtue of self-sacrificial love. An overview of the story is also given.
