Abstract

The book begins with a message from the museum director followed by a general introduction to the museum's history and that of its mineral collection. A short section describing minerals and their geological environments follows, using Bisbee, Arizona, and Franklin and Sterling Hill, New Jersey, as examples of extraordinary mineral specimen-producing localities. I Treasures from the Earth i is surprisingly well illustrated with many color photographs of mineral specimens, crystal drawings, locality shots, maps, and diagrams. [Extracted from the article]
