Abstract

A silver(I) coordination polymer, [Ag(L)(HNTP)] n (1) (L = 1,4-bis(5,6-dimethylbenzimidazol-1-yl)butane, H 2 NTP = 2-nitroterephthalic acid) was hydrothermally synthesized and characterized. 1 is a 1D linear chain which is further extended into a 3D supramolecular framework by hydrogen bond interactions. 1 exhibits highly sensitivity for detecting Cu2+ ion. 1 also presents high photocatalytic activities for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO). A one-dimensional Ag(I) coordination polymer (CP), [Ag(L)(HNTP)] n (1) (L = 1,4-bis(5,6-dimethylbenzimidazole)butane, H 2 NTP = 2-nitroterephthalic acid) was hydrothermally synthesized and characterized. 1 exhibits highly sensitivity and selectivity for detecting Cu2+ in aqueous solution and presents high photodegradation efficiency for MB and MO under UV irradiation. Unlabelled Image • 1D linear silver(I) coordination polymer was hydrothermally synthesized and characterized. • 1 is further extended into a 3D supramolecular framework by hydrogen bond interactions. • 1 exhibits highly sensitive and selective for detection of Cu2+. • 1 reveals high photocatalytic activity for degradation of MB/MO.
