Abstract
- A commentary on the efforts of the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump to block efforts by House Democrats to compel Trump aides to testify in the impeachment inquiry by claiming that close aides had absolute immunity from providing testimony to Congress, is presented. Topics covered include impact of the testimony of witnesses like former ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, how the case may help clarify the issue on absolute immunity and problems with the government's arguments.
