Abstract

Objetive: To describe the microbiological and antibiotic resistance profile in the pediatric department of the Jesús del Norte Clinic, 2016. Materials and methods: A descriptive case series study was designed. The study was carried out in the Pediatric Department of the Jesús del Norte Clinic. Results: 1264 samples of patients <15 years old with positive cultures of urine, feces, blood and pharyngeal secretion were analyzed. 67.7% were in <5 years and predominated in women with 59.22%. The most frequently isolated germ was Escherichia coli with 46.68%. By type of sample the most frequent were: In Coproculture: enteropathogenic Escherichia coli, Uroculture: Escherichia coli, Blood culture: Staphylococcus epidermidis and in pharyngeal secretion: Staphylococcus aureus. The presence of 105 cases (7.27%) of E. coli ESBL in urine cultures drew attention. Conclusions: The Positive isolated were more frequent in women, in children under 5 years, attended in emergency and stool sample. Appreciating high frequency of resistance to first and second line drugs in various etiological agents isolated in the samples. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
