Abstract
- Discusses stories from the "Arabian Nights" that are present in Sicilian tradition. Correspondences between Arab and Sicilian folklore that are also to be found in stories about the trickery and unfaithfulness of women; Invocation of oral tradition for a variety of reasons in many different civilizations; Sicilian oral tradition's preservation of stories inspired by "Arabian Nights"; Folklorist Giuseppe Pitrè's gathering of stories from Sicilian oral tradition in which one recognizes motifs belonging to the "Nights."
