Abstract

Introduction: A few instruments may prompt insulin obstruction and along these lines add to the improvement of sort 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). Recent contemplates demonstrate that larger amount of bicarbonate diminishes the official of insulin to its receptor. The principal point of the investigation is to compute the dimension of bicarbonate in diabetics and non-diabetics populace from outpatient of Saveetha Dental College. Materials and Methods: Patients were selected from those attending the outpatient department of Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals and divided into two groups as follows: Group I – Normal healthy individuals Group II – Individuals with known Type 2 DM. Results: All the data were analyzed using the SPSS package. Paired sample t-test analysis was done to find out significant differences between the two groups. All the tests were considered significant at P < 0.05 level. Sugar level of diabetes and non-diabetes was 96.55 ± 12.32 and 286.4 ± 53.71, respectively. Bicarbonate level of diabetes and non-diabetes was 25.02 ± 1.71 and 17.99 ± 2.47, respectively. The bicarbonate level was significantly reduced. Conclusion: The plasma bicarbonate level is noteworthy in the two diabetics and non-diabetics populace. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
