Abstract

In this report, we present a case of primary VZV pneumonia causing severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) ultimately requiring veno-venous ECMO (VV-ECMO). Empiric antibiotics and acyclovir were started for presumed VZV pneumonia given the rash. B CONCLUSIONS: b VZV pneumonia should be on the differential for patients with a diffuse rash and pneumonia given its high mortality rate. [Extracted from the article]
