Abstract

More than 20 laterite bauxite deposits have been discovered in the Wuchuan-Zheng'an-Daozhen region, northern Guizhou province, which is important bauxite orefield of China. Based on the reflectance spectra characteristics and low SiO2 content of bauxite ore, this paper applied the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) imagery to produce large-middle scale remote sensing geological interpretation, map the orebearing stratum, extract metallogenic zones for bauxite deposits by using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and SiO2 index. These results provide clues for future investigation of bauxite resources in this study area and an effective case reference for the remote sensing geological survey of bauxite.
