Ariostan Armory: Feminist Responses to the Orlando Furioso.

The article offers a brief overview of the sixteenth-century feminine reception of the Orlando Furioso, poem by Ludovico Ariosto. Topics discussed include information on views of Isabella d’Este, best-documented female reader of the poem, Ariosto' s poem through library inventories and correspondence records; indebtedness of early modern feminist writers to Ariosto’s poem; and merits of fictional character, Bradamante and Marfisa in poem.
