Abstract

Through history, cities, large or small, have been the consequence of a social construction, a political development and cultural dynamics, while taking an economic and ideological meaning. Knowledge the history of our cities, and of the urban centres that characterize other cultures, is relevant to value the present and the reality where we live to contribute to an education for citizenship and, also, to prepare students for encounters with the future. Most of the high school students learn in cities and, according to all reports, will be where 80% of the world's population lives in a few years. Likewise, the laboral world, contemporary and future, is increasingly interrelated to the world of cities that are, and will be, the true economic drivers of the economy, work and life of people. The purpose of this paper is to relationship the knowledge of the past to high school students across the cities with the tasks of the present and forthcoming perspectives. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
