Abstract
- Discusses the contesting of certain prejudices regarding popular cultures, especially popular religiosity in Argentina in relation to the Cumbia movement. Exploration of the popular religious practices surrounding Gilda and Rodrigo, two singers of tropical music; Cumbia phenomenon's use of elements present in popular cultures through its songs; God presented by institutionalized Christianity in popular religiosity; Critique of modernist rationalism at the base of popular religiosity; Ways in which people engaged in popular religiosity are asking for an experience of God closer to the situations of their daily life.
