Abstract
- Mindless, laugh-so-hard-it-hurts comedies are sometimes a tough sell for jaded, post-millennial audiences. In the 1970s, it was easier — ungroomed chest hair, shellacked hairdos and talking dogs were enough to make people laugh. Those were simpler times and if "Anchorman" is any indication, a helluva lot funnier, too. "Anchorman," co-written by its star, Will Ferrell, with director Adam McKay, is the story of Ron Burgundy, a vapid, loveable pig of a broadcaster. Set in San Diego in the 1970s, "Anchorman" tells the story of an all-male news team.
