Early English Dictionaries and the History of Meekness.

The article presents information on history of meekness and early English dictionaries. According to the author, scholars and some philosophers have explored meekness's theological foundations and role in moral theory but they have paid little attention to how well integrated the concept of meekness was in medieval and early modern English society. The author informs that focused study of meekness's definitions in dictionaries reveals how contemporary scholars categorized and defined meekness.
