Abstract

Introduction: The new generations of Cuban doctors face the medicalization of society, where precision medicine, articulated with the reasoned therapy is aim to increase the quality of the prescription process. However, the current scenario reveals the need to promote the rational use of medicines according to the development of the country through education, from instruction. Antecedents: In previous courses the topics that have been addressed have been those of greatest difficulty reflected in the evaluation system of the subject Pharmacology-I. The absence of a teaching support material coherent with the indications of the Director Program of the Teaching of Medical Sciences, the objectives of the discipline and in response to the current need of the teaching-educational process were elements that supported its design. Objective: Contribute to the rational prescription of medications through the contents of pharmaceutical forms, routes of administration and pharmacokinetics using the brochure during self-preparation. Methods: A pedagogical tool with a didactic approach was designed, aimed at undergraduate students of the medical career. It is structured in introduction to the content, 29 questions (objective test, modified essays), answers and reference bibliography. Self-assessment is achieved by the checklist. The way of conceiving basic contents to teach prescription habits, their systematic use during selfpreparation, linked with the professor consultation, promote the gradual development of cognitive independence, major level of knowledge assimilations and resolutive and scientific capacity. Conclusions: The divulgation on the university website, its implementation and systematic use by students, indicates to be a relevant tool to promote good prescription skills and habits. The approach aimed at self-preparation encourages self-management of knowledge and contributes to the formation of the professional model in correspondence with the task that society demands.
