Abstract
- Interfacial properties between reinforcement and resin matrix have significantly influence on the tribological and mechanical behaviors of self-lubricating liner composites. Introducing nanoscale fillers onto fibers surface can significantly enhance the surface energy and roughness, which contributed to improve the adhesion strength. In this work, MgAl-LDH/PAMPA multilayers films were loaded onto Nomex and PTFE fibers surface by a simple and high efficiency Layer-by-Layer (LbL) self-assembly approach. The tensile strength of the LbL-9 composite was 111.54 MPa, which increased by 11.58% compared to that of pristine composites (99.96 MPa). Moreover, the bonding strength of LbL-9 composites was 40.8% higher than that of pristine one. Meanwhile, friction and wear tests results proved that MgAl-LDH/PAMPA modified composite displayed preferable tribological properties. • • MgAl-layered double hydroxide nanosheets were successfully fabricated.MgAl-LDH multilayers films constructed on fibers surface via LbL self-assembly technique. • Tensile strength, bonding strength and tribological properties were significantly improved.
