Abstract

The article analyzes the wrongful conviction of special education student Brendan Dassey which was featured in the documentary series, "Making a Murderer," released on Netflix in 2015. Topics discussed include the homicide of Wisconsin-resident Teresa Halbach wherein the primary suspect was Dassey's uncle Steven Avery, the impact of the behavior of law enforcement on the unreliability of Dassey's confession, and the role of a speech-language pathologist in such case.
