Abstract

Deep dyspareunia affects 50% of women with endometriosis and has significant negative effects on relationships and sexual function. Previous research has identified painful bladder syndrome as a significant contributor to deep dyspareunia which suggests factors such as central sensitization that may contribute to the etiology of deep dyspareunia. In women with endometriosis, those with high severity of deep dyspareunia and painful bladder syndrome had greater central sensitization as measured by a self-reported questionnaire.
