Abstract

Presents research which proposed that perinatal transmission of HIV-1 may result from an associated chronic or acute bacterial chorioamnionitis. Obstetric risk factors for perinatal transmission of HIV-1; Prevalence of chronic or acute chorioamnionitis; Relation between amniotic fluid cytokines and HIV-1-infected leukocytes; Use of antibiotic treatment.
