Abstract
- The article explores the history and evolution of the Transition House, a women's shelter in Cambridge, Massachusetts launched by Chris Womendez and Cherie Jimenez on New Year's Day 1976 to help battered women. Topics covered include experience of Womendez and Jimenez as battered wives, volunteers who have worked at the shelter and their activism and feminism, and how Transition House survived through the years by adapting to the challenges of the changing times.
