Abstract

In recent years, studies on nanofluids have increased and the thermal properties of nanofluids and their heat transfer abilities have gained importance. Nowadays nanofluids show great potential for conventional heat transfer and enhancing the thermal conductivity of base fluid. In the present work, the theoretical and experimental work is carried out to evaluate the thermal properties of nanofluids ZnO/De-ionized water nanofluid with different ZnO nanoparticles. The nanofluid (ZnO/De-ionized water) was prepared by dispersing a nominal diameter of 40 nm with different volume concentrations (0.09 %, 0.18 %, and 0.44 %) of ZnO nanoparticle in base fluid (De-ionized water). In addition, Sodium Dodecy1 Sulfate (SDS) surfactant used to improve the stability of nanofluid. The sedimentation of nanoparticles inside the base fluid gives the highest dissipation on the eighth day for the 0.44% volume concentration of ZnO/De-ionized water nanofluid. The thermal conductivity, of ZnO/De-ionized water nanofluid at 0.44% vol. concentration is improved by 4.11% that of the base fluid at 35 °C. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
