Abstract
- It aims to present the point of view of teachers and students about the use of documentaries as a tool in the teachinglearning process in the disciplines of Culture and Media; Information and Society; and Information and Communication Theory in Librarianship Course of Federal University of Ceará. It addresses the birth of cinema, correlating it with World History and with social and cultural aspects of society. It presents the emergence of cinematographic genres from European cultural expressions and vanguards, relating them to the development of cinematographic language. It relates cinema, more specifically the documentary genre, to education. Conceptualizes documentary genre and presents the new types of documentaries that are being developed from the new technologies and the internet. As for the methodology, it is a qualitative descriptive research that, through the analysis of applied content in data collected through the application of questionnaires to the students and the accomplishment of an interview with teachers of the mentioned disciplines, found that both teachers and students believe that documentaries are a good tool in the teaching-learning process and that, although it needs some adjustments, bring a good result when combined with texts and debates in the classroom.
