Abstract

The particularity of Ancient Chinese Medicine (ACM) is to address not only organic dysfunction, but to add the dimension of the couple's family history. We sought to assess whether addressing this dimension improves the outcome of child-wish compared to traditional medically assisted procreation (MAP). The pregnancy rates obtained following treatment with ACM alone or a combination of ACM/MAP in a private practice in Lyon were compared to the rates obtained by MAP alone in the Rhônes-Alpes region. The data were obtained by retrospective review of the files of Dr. A. Mestrallet, obstetrician-gynecologist and ACM practitioner, over a 2-year period (2010-2012) and a descriptive statistical analysis was performed. At the end of this work, we can mention that ACM is an interesting complementary method to strengthen the effectiveness of MAP. There is a higher birth rate and a shorter duration of infertility. A thesis work by the Faculty of Marseille has confirmed our results and supports our hypothesis by highlighting an advantageous issue to unexplained causes of infertility. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
