Abstract

The traditional ZigBee routing algorithm can meet the basic needs of routing, but it is prone to uneven energy consumption of each node during network operation, resulting in network segmentation. Moreover, the traditional ZigBee routing algorithm performs route lookup by sending RREQ packets, and flooding occurs during the broadcast process, causing a large amount of invalid routing overhead to the network. Aiming at the shortcomings of the traditional ZigBee routing algorithm, this paper proposes an energy efficient routing optimization algorithm, which avoids excessive consumption of energy of key nodes by setting energy level and routing cost of nodes, and introduces RREQ survival time. The concept, as well as controlling the direction of RREQ propagation, reduces the flooding of the network and makes the node energy in the network more efficient and reasonable. The network simulation experiments show that the improved routing algorithm reduces the energy consumption of the network as a whole, balances the node energy and prolongs the life cycle of the network.
