Abstract
- 76 years old female patient applied our clinic with bilateral painless decreased vision for 5-6 months. Best corrected visual acuities were 20/640 in the right, 20/500 in the left eye. Slit lamp examination was unremarkable except bilateral pseudophakia. Intraocular pressures were within normal limits. Bilateral severe cystoid macular edema was identified in indirect retina examination and optical coherence tomography (OCT). Patient was initiated oral capecitabine therapy 10 months ago and the therapy was ceased 4 months ago. There wasn't any other topical or systemic medication history except capecitabine. After the treatment with oral acetazolamide and topical steroid and non-steroidal drops, best corrected visual acuities increased to 20/200 in right eye and 20/63 in the left eye. In OCT examination cystoid macular edema was decreased in the right eye and disappeared in the left eye. This is the first case reporting bilateral cystoid macula edema related to capecitabine therapy in the literature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
