Abstract

The article discusses a 2019 retrospective study on diabetic retinopathy's influence on cataract surgery by way of preoperative risk factors, intraoperative complications, and postoperative outcomes in patients. Results show that diabetics are having poor vision and developing more macular edema after surgery, with degree of retinopathy being proportional to outcomes. Also noted is the recommended early cataract extraction on diabetic patients before significant retinopathy development.
