Abstract
- The article discusses the report produced by Gregory Lof, former Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders chairman at the MGH Institute of Health Professions, regarding nonspeech oral motor exercises. Topics explored include the use of these techniques in children with speech sound disorders despite the lack of scientific evidence, the reliance of some clinicians on clinical intuition for recommending these exercises, and the concerns of parents over the benefits of these exercises.
