Abstract

This article and its accompanying one address the corporate library's contribution to its parent firm. Part I reviews the literature on determining this contribution, revealing the need for a more theoretical approach to this problem. It then presents this approach. This article, Part II, reviews methodological trade-offs in pursuing this new direction. It examines the state of theoretical development supporting the examination of corporate library contribution. Then it reviews the applicability of four classes of research methodologies when using such a theoretical approach to address this problem: field research, including interviews and observation; surveys; unobtrusive research, including content analysis and analysis of existing statistics; and, finally, experiments.
