Abstract

The article informs of the politics of the Georgian government directed towards the engagement of the Georgian Orthodox Church in the implementation of the European project in 2004–2012. It examines agonism as a state policy for engagement of church. It also informs on identity politics led by both the president and the Catholicos Patriarch, along with Former President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili's policy of integration into the European Union and North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
