Abstract

Loneliness is known to every human being. It has a particular echo in women's lives. It often takes the form of constraint rather than choice. It's a question here of putting in tension lived space and isolation, at different scales and to decipher the mechanisms of factory of solitudes. Several aspects are envisaged in order to identify a typology of the solitudes and the relation to the world that they underlie. This is the case with accompanied loneliness's, which result more particularly from the lifestyles and global dynamics of a metropolis, then from the processes of social control that act on chosen loneliness, and conversely uses loneliness it undergoes to reinforce itself. The proposition is to consider loneliness as a democratic issue, that it becomes a possible choice to withdraw from the world as much as to stop or slow down. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
