Abstract
- Browallia pallascana S. Leiva (Solanaceae), a new species from Northern Peru, is described and illustrated in detail. Browallia pallascana is found between km 70-71 of the route between Pallasca and Tablachaca River (Mollepata), Pallasca district, province of Pallasca, Ancash Region, Peru, at 8°12'37,7" S and 77°57'15,5" W, at around 2000 of áltitude. It is mainly characterized by its flowers arranged in racemes, the indumentum of its floral organs surrounded by transparent glandular hairs, style included, corolla intense purple in the distal ¾, white in the basal quarter, green in the hump and yellow in the distal area externally, 24-25 mm (between the bigger lobe and the two lower lobes) and 23-23,2 mm (between the two lateral lobes) of limb diameter at anthesis, capsule obconical, erect, surrounded by a covering of rigid transparent eglandular hairs in the distal half, 6-6,2 mm long and 4-4,1 mm diameter. Data regarding geographic distribution, ecology, phenology, current status and its relation with another allied species are included. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
