Identification of Unconjugated Androst-5-ene-diod in Human Peripheral Plasma.

In 2000 ml of pooled human male plasma unconjugated 3β, 17β-dihydroxyandrost-5-ene as diacetate was identified. The identification was based on paper chromatography, acetylation followed by thin-layer chromatography and final mass spectrometry, Furthermore aliquot parts of the extract after paper-chromatography were subjected to a protein-binding assay to assure the 17β-hydroxyl configuration.
