Abstract

Introduction: Blood pressure is related to heart rate, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation. Hypertension is one of the major problems which leads to cardiovascular disease. Hence, the current study aimed to create awareness and to know whether staffs or students have more heart rate and blood pressure. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted in the Saveetha Dental College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Students with the age of 18–22 years were included and the staffs with the age of 30–40 were also included in this study. A total of 60 participants were divided into two groups. Group 1 consists of 30 students and Group 2 consists of 30 staffs. Those having asthma and cardiac problem were excluded from this study. Results: The systole of the students and the staffs was 121.3 ± 12.06 and 122 ± 15.53, respectively, and they were non-significant. The diastole of the students and the staffs was 83 ± 15.63 and 85 ± 12.69, respectively, and they were also non-significant. The heart rate of the students and the staffs was 88±12.73 and 82±8.95 and found significant. Conclusion: Blood pressure is more or less similar among both students and staffs and only variation seen in heart rate. This study may be helpful for them to maintain their heart rate.
