Abstract

The article presents the author's comments on an increasing number of coal-miners in the U.S. Applachian region, dying of the black lung disease. The author points out how President Donald Trump had campaigned heavily on promises to revive the dying coal industry of the country and promised federally backed health care for coal miners. The author notes that the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) confirmed a resurgence of black lung disease, in central Appalachia.
