Abstract

The article focuses on the theory that life on Earth and its environment regain stability and equilibrium over time. It comments on how oxygen levels have remained at a relatively constant state for hundreds of millions of year while the surface temperature of the planet allows liquid water to exist. It talks about environmentalist James Lovelock's Gaia hypothesis which is rejected by most evolutionary biologists. It mentions the use of mathematical models to show selection through persistence.
