Muhammad b. Yahya's interpretation on the hadiths he received questions about are significant. Muhammad's approach to hadiths provide an idea as to the approaches of a scholar subscribing to Mu'tazila understanding. As the views of Mu'tazila scholars regarding the hadiths on Islamic law are more or less known, while their approaches the hadiths on other fields are not well documented. He believes there are many hadiths that contradict the Qur'an. Therefore, Muhammad b. Yahya centers his hadith interpretations of the Qur'an and emphasizes the relationship between the Qur'an and the hadiths. He believes that one should take example from the Prophet's sunnah that is in harmony with the Qur'an. Muhammad b.
