Abstract
- The article describes the case of a 16-year-old male immigrated from Honduras, the health implications of detainment in the subject, and the steps taken to ensure proper medical screening and care. He immigrated with his 15-year-old brother to avoid gang recruitment. It is noted that clinicians in the U.S. should be aware of the complex medical needs of newly-arrived immigrant children. Pediatricians have the opportunity to support the health and well-being of the population.
