Abstract

This objective of the work described in this paper is to minimize conflict costs between air pollution regulations and industrial activity which can be modeled as a semi-infinite optimization problem. The problem was solved by using the stochastic method of outer approximations in MATLAB and by introducing particle composition and dispersion as a key parameter, the initial pollution distribution area was regrouped into smaller subareas. Then, the set of pollution sources was replaced with a set of virtual sources, which allows solving the problem in a more appropriate manner by preserving the initial coordinates of the pollution sources. The numerical experiments allowed to build precise pollution maps according to the dispersion of polluting particles. This method provided good solutions that satisfy the safety regulation in each point of different zones. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
